Designed to last

Because of their small size, standard grass pavers have the drawback that they shift, and because of their large point loads make holes in the foundation. The Deer grass pavers from Cobefa are 125 cm long, 62.5 wide and 12 cm thick, and in addition fully reinforced. The combination of size and reinforcement means that loads are better distributed over the foundation and they shift less quickly. Placement guidelines depend on the load; the permeability and grass opening vary by type.

  • BC 2: continuous crushed stone 0/20 thickness: 15
  • BC 3: continuous crushed stone 0/20 thickness: 20

  • BC 4: continuous crushed stone 0/40 (SB 250 type 1) thickness: 25
  • BC 5: continuous crushed stone 0/40 (SB 250 type 1) thickness: 30
  • BC 6: continuous crushed stone 0/40 (SB 250 type 1) thickness: 35

D I FOUNDATION

E1: GRASS TILE MIX
For maximum durability and optimal performance, grass pavers are best installed on a solid foundation with a well-thought-out composition. Substrates are essential for this purpose. The topsoil on which your grass pavers are placed ensures good germination and sustainable growth of grass, clover, etc. By using a suitable substrate and applying it correctly, you achieve a high-quality end result.

E2: STONE FILLING
Fill the tiles with gravel of your choice. Preferably use gravel with a limited grain size to ensure optimal water permeability, walkability, and aesthetic appeal.

STEP-BY-STEP PLAN

  1. Excavate the soil to a sufficient depth for the thickness of the foundation layer, the crushed stone/topsoil mix and the concrete slab. Be sure to remove the entire soil layer, then compact the substrate with a roller. Note: the mix you use to fill the spaces in your grass pavers must have at least 25 cm of root space.
  2. Apply a layer of foundation material and compact it sufficiently with a roller of at least 700 kg per linear metre. The thickness of the foundation layer depends on the load class and the expected load (e.g. BC 3 - light traffic = 20 cm, BC 6 - heavy traffic = 35 cm).
  3. Then finish with a layer of 3 to 5 cm of crushed stone/topsoil mix, rake loose and level. Raking is necessary to ensure that the grass pavers can bed down properly in the crushed stone/topsoil mix.
  4. After laying the grass pavers, you can fill the recesses with a grass paver mix. Do not press this down, but make sure that it is neatly swept away everywhere so that no mix is left on the pavers. When it rains, the mix will end up at a lower level than the top of the pavers. This will protect the filler in your concrete pavers when vehicles are driven over them.
