No more grey streets!
Green Deal Garden Streets, a Flemish Government initiative, aims to transform at least 1,000 grey streets into pleasant, green places with plenty of space for nature, social contact and sustainable mobility, including cycling and walking, by 2030. Several initiating organisations joined forces and got a number of ‘doers’ and ‘thinkers’ involved in the projects. Deer is among the businesses and non-profit organisations supporting the project.

Partnership with a sustainable future perspective
Through the partnership with Green Deal Garden Streets, Deer is actively contributing to the achievement of several important objectives, including:

Blueing
Deer grass pavers are ideal for collecting rainwater, reusing it or slowly releasing it into the subsoil. As a result, the water remains available for longer for both people and nature. This is our response to persistent periods of drought and water shortages in general.

Greening
Hard surfacing needs to make way for vegetation. Deer grass pavers make space – literally and figuratively – for urban greenery. They can be filled with grasses, grass clover or ornamental gravel, for example. What’s more, they can be used in a broader architectural and urban design context, including not just streets but also squares, pavements, parking areas, driveways and so on.
